Set at an altitude of around 2,600 meters, the camp is surrounded by open moorland and offers expansive views of the Kenyan plains, creating a less crowded atmosphere compared to other routes. The campsite provides basic facilities and a peaceful environment for acclimatization, allowing trekkers to rest, enjoy the natural surroundings, and prepare for the higher elevations ahead on their journey to the summit.

Kikelewa Camp is a small and scenic campsite located along the quieter Rongai Route on the northern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, sitting at an altitude of around 3,600 meters. Surrounded by distinctive giant groundsels and alpine vegetation, the camp offers a peaceful setting with striking views across the moorland and toward the higher peaks of the mountain. Mawenzi Turn Hurt
Mawenzi Tarn Hut Camp is a dramatic high-altitude campsite located at about 4,330 meters beneath the rugged, jagged peaks of Mawenzi on the eastern side of Mount Kilimanjaro along the Rongai Route. Set beside a small tarn (mountain lake), the camp offers breathtaking alpine scenery with towering volcanic rock formations and sweeping views across the saddle toward Kibo. The environment is cold, exposed, and sparsely vegetated, making it an important acclimatization stop where climbers rest and prepare for the more demanding stages of the ascent, while experiencing one of the most striking and remote landscapes on the mountain.
Kibo Hut
Kibo Hut is a high-altitude base camp located at 4,700 meters on the saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi peaks, serving as the final overnight stop before the summit attempt on Mount Kilimanjaro. The camp sits in a stark alpine desert environment with little vegetation, surrounded by volcanic terrain and wide, open views of the mountain. Facilities are basic, typically consisting of stone huts and camping areas, and conditions are cold and windy, especially at night. Climbers rest here briefly, have an early meal, and prepare mentally and physically for the midnight ascent toward Uhuru Peak, making it one of the most crucial and challenging stages of the journey.
