住宿Machame camp.
Machame Camp is the first overnight stop on the Machame Route, located at about 3,000 meters (9,843 ft). It lies within a lush rainforest, surrounded by tall trees and dense vegetation. Climbers arrive here after a steady hike from Machame Gate, rest, enjoy meals, and begin adjusting to the altitude before continuing higher.
Shira camp.
Shira Camp is located at about 3,850 meters (12,631 ft) on the Shira Plateau along the Machame Route. The environment changes from rainforest to open moorland, with wide views of the mountain and surrounding plains. It is an important acclimatization stop where climbers rest and adjust to the higher altitude.
Barranco camp.
Barranco Camp is located at about 3,960 meters (12,992 ft) on the Machame Route. It is set in a stunning valley just below the famous Barranco Wall, surrounded by giant groundsels and unique alpine vegetation. The camp offers one of the most scenic views on the mountain, with dramatic landscapes and a peaceful atmosphere. It is an important acclimatization stop where climbers rest, recover, and prepare for the next day’s climb over the Barranco Wall toward Karanga Camp.
Karanga camp.
Karanga Camp is located at about 3,995 meters (13,106 ft) on the Machame Route. It sits in a quiet valley surrounded by alpine desert landscape, with fewer plants and a dry, open environment. The camp offers beautiful views of the mountain and nearby ridges. It is an important acclimatization stop where climbers rest and regain energy before continuing to Barafu Camp for the summit attempt.
Barafu camp.
Barafu Camp is located at about 4,673 meters (15,331 ft) and serves as the final base camp before the summit attempt on Mount Kilimanjaro. The area is rocky, dry, and exposed, with strong winds and very cold temperatures, especially at night. There is little to no vegetation at this altitude. Climbers arrive here in the afternoon, rest, and prepare for the summit push. After an early dinner, you sleep for a few hours before beginning the midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak.
Mweka camp.
Mweka Camp is located at about 3,100 meters (10,170 ft) on the descent route of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is surrounded by lush rainforest, with thick vegetation, tall trees, and fresh air after the cold summit conditions. After the long summit day, climbers arrive here to relax, regain strength, and enjoy a well-deserved rest. It marks the final night on the mountain before descending to Mweka Gate, bringing the Kilimanjaro journey to a successful end.
